Chinese telecommunications network equipment maker Huawei announced the settlement of its intellectual property disputes with Motorola on Wednesday.

A spokesperson from Huawei’s US unit described the ultimate agreement conditions as favorable on both sides, and “a very clear, comprehensive vindication of our brand and our legal claims…It puts an end to the unwarranted speculation about the integrity of our business practices.”

Huawei, a company that has vigorously attempted to break into the US telecom market, was accused of stealing trade secrets from Motorola. Allegations of intellectual property theft often stoke customer distrust, and a negative outcome with the Motorola dispute was widely regarded as terminally damaging to Huawei’s ability to enter the US market, especially after Cisco launched similar accusations in 2003.
